Scarborough Local Food Guide

Scarborough Local Food Guide coverWe have closed the online version of the directory because we are unable to keep the records up-to-date. Where to source locally, buy locally and eat locally in Scarborough and the surrounding area.

The 2nd edition of the printed Guide was a 44-page booklet, listing more than 80 independent local food producers and retailers in Scarborough and the surrounding area. As well as extensive listings pages, the Guide contained details of farmers' markets and allotments, fact boxes giving good reasons to buy local food, and a 'Further Resources' section. It was available free at public libraries, tourist information centres and the local shops featured in the Guide.

The 2nd edition of the Scarborough Local Food Guide is now out of print. To keep in touch and learn about new local food initiatives in the area join the Scaborough Local Food Group Free Email Newsletter list.

If people in the Scarborough area each spent just 36p a week on local food (that is 10% of the national average weekly spend on fruit and vegetables), the muliplier effect of this would generate £40,000 for our local economy. This would be an extra £2 million pounds circulating locally each year.

The aim of the Guide is to make it easier for all of us to buy, enjoy and thrive on local food.

Go on! Do yourself a favour and at the same time benefit your neighbours and your locality. Buy local.
